Another great show from the '80's, I think that this was one of Tom Hanks' best roles. Bosom Buddies was the story of Kip and Henry:

Henry: When we first moved to New York we had a great apartment that was dirt cheap.
Kip: And we found out why it was so cheap.
H: Our friend Amy said there was a great apartment in her building.
K: Dirt cheap - but it's a hotel for women. OK. We made one adjustment.
H: Now these other ladies know us as Buffy and Hildegarde.
K: But they also know us as Kip and Henry, Buffy and Hildy's brothers.
K: I am crazy about the blonde.
H: This experience is gonna make a great book.
K: See? It's all perfectly normal.

Last night I watched "Less than Zero" on DVD. Jami Gertz plays Blair, Andrew Mc Carthy is Clay and Robert Downey Jr. is Julian. The film wasn't as slick to me as when I first saw it in 1987, but that's probably due to the dated fashions & hairstyles. Robert Downey Jr. was excellent, Andrew Mc Carthy felt miscast. Jami Gertz started me thinking about Square Pegs, which aired from 1982 - 1983 (I was 15) Whenever I see Jami Gertz or Sara Jessica Parker. I am reminded of Square Pegs, which was one of my favorite shows at 15. Jami plays Muffy Tepperman, chairman of the Pep Squad and Sara Jessica is Patty Greene, one of the "Square Pegs".

A yellow iris from our front yard. The weather's been odd today, cold and semi-sunny. The plants seem to be doing well. Our backyard is now being cleared so we can put in, among other things, a japanese garden and a small fish pond.

Blythe is a doll that was created in the '70's. She has an extra large head and eyes, and her eye color will change when you pull the string on her back. She's back now in 2002, reissued by Takara and has become famous thanks to "This is Blythe" by Gina Garan. I've been following them on ebay (yes, I am trying to get one)

The cutest thing since Afro Ken. The Nyanko kitties are cats that become certain foods or objects. I just ordered this Nyanko, the crepe. I have one that is a sushi kitty and one that is a red bean kitty.

On Sunday morning we met my aunt Betsy and her boyfriend Hank for brunch, then afterwards went to see her new flat. That's where I got this shot of one of her beautiful orchids. I wish I were this good with orchids. Any orchid I own goes permanently dormant for some reason.

Last weekend my brother Frank and his wife Leslie came to visit us in San Francisco. It was a great weekend - on Saturday we took the "Alcatraz After Dark" tour, the weather was clear and sunny for our ride over. It was a little cold with the wind, but a great day to be outside & see the Rock. Alcatraz is still a pretty spooky place, I think moreso because it's getting run down these days. After Alcatraz, we headed straight for Guaymas in Tiburon, a great mexican restaurant. The food was great, it's right on the water and very reasonable.
